We have an exciting opportunity for a Studio Manager
to join our team on a permanent basis. This position is based at our Support
Centre in Kuilsriver, Cape Town and will be part of a very diverse and vibrant
digital marketing team. This position will report directly to the Marketing
Manager: Digital.
The Studio Manager will be responsible to manage the
timeous and consistent, quality delivery of product imagery and act as the
dedicated contact person for online commerce in the photography studio. To
plan, manage and oversee the end-to-end production and post-production process.
To ensure consistency across all imagery and that strict deadlines are met,
with all photographs delivered in full and according to specification.
Qualifications
Essential:
- A Grade 12 Certificate/Matric
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Advertising,
Photography or equivalent
Preferred:
- A tertiary qualification in project management or
production management will be most suitable.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Knowledge
required:
- Extensive knowledge of the production process in
terms of online commerce and photography
- Extensive knowledge of photography and
post-production processes
- Fashion retail cycle, critical path & buying
process
- Knowledge of digital channels i.e. web, digital
media, social media, USSD and App’s
- Understanding of online commerce in the fashion
retail environment
Skills
required:
? A skilled photographer and retoucher
- Experiential command of Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment while
maintaining positive working relationships.
- Deadline driven
- Excellent attention to detail
- Solutions driven and able to work with limited
supervision
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability
to:
o Be adaptable to change initiatives
o Be self-motivated
o Contribute to and integrate with the bigger
marketing team & other stakeholders
Experience
required:
Essential:
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in studio /
project and production management, in an agency/creative/photography/retail
marketing environment.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a photographer
and retoucher
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in people
management
- Experience in online commerce in a retail
environment
Preferred:
- Experience gained in a Retail marketing or
advertising environment
- Understanding of Magento and Façade
- Experience or good understanding of,
post-production and online commerce production process
Key
Responsibilities
1. Production planning, workflow and capacity
management
• Use information and timelines from Upload Team to
plan and manage product samples identified for e-commerce and other Marketing
initiatives, through studio or via Styleshoots machine, post- production and
upload.
• Construct monthly / weekly production plan to
facilitate the above on strict timelines and keep stakeholders informed of
status and progress.
• Operational management of the production plan to
effectively:
o Facilitate workflow & timings of photography
and post-production
o Manage existing model images from agency and other
outside resources
o Ensure sufficient resources available to meet
requirements in full & on time
o Ensure upload team has correct product image,
accurately named & saved, on time for go live dates of e-commerce and
promotional campaigns

Reporting;
o Status reports to marketing and e-commerce team on
number of samples received, images shot & retouched, challenges faced and
corrective measures taken/ improvement recommendations
2. Image management and quality control
o Managing the full quality control function in
quality of images and/or editing / retouching.
• Correct imagery naming / filing / format
• Image handover to post-production agency
• Brief to agency
• Review of work for consistency across imagery
(including campaign shots)
• Image approval & handover to Traffic
Co-ordinator
• Time & capacity management per month
o Image handover and briefing to post-production
agency (as well as ensuring the delivery of imagery back from agency)
o Review of work for consistency across imagery

3. Studio management
Ensure maintenance of studio equipment &
licensing
Manage booking of studio (e-comm, social media &
ATL campaigns)
Overseeing the full production process in the
photographic studio
o Time and capacity management per month for the
studio in line with output requirements
o Oversight of the full production process;
including sample planning, updating and implementing agreed to photography
style requirements, managing workflow and timings of photography and
post-production to ensure delivery of imagery so that content can be uploaded
timeously
o Continuous assessment of studio resources,
ensuring that each project / campaign, month is sufficiently resourced and is
able to deliver within stipulated timeframes, and renegotiating timelines with
Marketing where needed.
o To manage external providers where outsourcing of
garment shooting is required
o Ensure maintenance of equipment and licensing
o Managing booking of studio (e-comm, social media,
ATL campaigns etc)
o Ensure the maintenance and order of studio
workplace
4. Online Commerce
- To serve as the dedicated contact person for
online commerce (queries, providing data, reports, and updates) relating to the
studio from:
o Post-production agency
o Models/ agents
o Freelancers (photographers & assistants,
stylists, DTP operators)
o Equipment suppliers
o Creative agency
o All merch SBUs/ e-comm co-ord (central point of
contact for image queries)
- Studio liaising from shoot to post production
(central point of contact for photography and retouching)
- Managing work wellbeing and outputs of direct reports, including; Digital Photographer, Web Photographer, post-production and/or creative agencies or resources and all Merch SBUs.
